It also encourages companies to take meaningful action to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
By joining, we’ve committed to transparency, responsible business, and measurable progress across our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) pillars.

What’s Next: Joining the 2025 Climate Ambition Accelerator

We’re proud to share that in May 2025, two of our employees — Anusha Wijewardane, Project Lead – Sustainability Initiatives, and Samantha Bolan, Marketing & Communications Coordinator — will represent Aberdeen Laundry Services in the UN Global Compact’s Climate Ambition Accelerator.

This six-month programme helps businesses like ours set and deliver science-based climate targets, aligning with the 1.5°C pathway and the global goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

Through expert workshops, peer collaboration, and practical climate action planning, our team will strengthen our efforts to:

Reduce Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions

Scale low-carbon solutions across laundry operations

Align our long-term roadmap with the Paris Agreement

This is a natural extension of the work we’re already doing, including: ✅ 12% reduction in water use per kg of linen since 2020
✅ 15% renewable energy sourcing
✅ 30% reduction in carbon intensity per kg of laundry

Why It Matters

Participating in the Climate Ambition Accelerator reinforces our commitment not only to lowering our own emissions, but also to leading by example across the commercial laundry sector.

Commercial laundry operations impact water use, energy consumption, chemical efficiency, and emissions. By accelerating greener practices now, we can create positive ripple effects throughout supply chains, client partnerships, and community services.
